목표 (Mục Tiêu / Learning Objectives)

Tiếng Việt So Sánh (Vietnamese Comparison)
Vietnamese: Verbs don't change
- Tôi đi. (I go.)
- Cô ấy đi. (She goes.)
- Verb "đi" is the same for all subjects.
Korean: Verbs must change
- 나는 가요. (I go.)
- 학생은 가요. (A student goes.)
- The verb 가다 becomes 가요 in casual polite form.
This is fundamental to Korean grammar. Every verb must be conjugated.
Khái Niệm (The Concept)
Korean verbs conjugate to show:
- Tense (past, present, future)
- Politeness level (formal, polite, casual)
- Mood (statement, question, command)
In this lesson, we focus on the present tense, casual polite (아요/어요) form, which is the most common in everyday speech and exam contexts.

요약 (Summary)
Korean verbs conjugate based on vowel harmony:
- ㅏ/ㅗ vowels → add -아요
- Other vowels → add -어요
- Special cases (하다, 오다, 보다) have irregular forms
Mastering this rule is essential because every Korean verb you use must be conjugated correctly.
Next lesson: We'll apply this conjugation to the five most common verbs.
